NetherRealm Studios Hit with Layoffs

NetherRealm Studios has joined the ever-increasing list of developers and publishers who have been hit with layoffs over the last year and a half, a period that has seen thousands of jobs in the games industry being impacted.

Reportedly, NetherRealm Studios’ entire mobile team was shut down. The same was confirmed on LinkedIn by Tony Lazzara, a QA analyst who confirmed that he was one of several people at the studio to be laid off. As per Lazzara, NetherRealm’s mobile team was maintaining live service operations for a number of titles, including Injustice 2, Mortal Kombat Onslaught, and Mortal Kombat Mobile.

“Unfortunately, yesterday Netherrealm’s mobile team was shut down,” Lazzara wrote. “A ton of very talented…

Oscar Garcia Junyent and his coaching staff will no longer coach RC Celta, a club statement read.

How can Bayern stop Mbappe? Coman will offer team-mates advice on facing PSG star

Kingsley Coman will advise Bayern Munich s defence on how to stop Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe in the Champions League final.

Mbappe s fitness was a cause for concern ahead of the mini-tournament in Lisbon due to an ankle injury sustained in the Coupe de France final success against Saint-Etienne.

The 21-year-old attacker, a France team-mate of Coman, set up a late winner after coming on as a substitute in the quarter-final success against Atalanta and started the 3-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the final four on Tuesday.

Bayern managed to shackle Lionel Messi during an 8-2 thrashing of Barcelona in the last eight and Coman will attempt to help them limit the damage Mbappe does at the Estadio da Luz on Sunday.

Emma Hayes recites poetry following ‘irresponsible’ call from Jonas Eidevall

Emma Hayes bizarrely recited part of a poem after Jonas Eidevall branded her accusation against him of male aggression “irresponsible”.

Eidevall’s Arsenal defeated Hayes’ Chelsea 1-0 earlier this month in the Continental Cup final but the result was overshadowed by a spat between the two managers.

Hayes took exception to a touchline altercation between Eidevall and Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert and appeared to push the Arsenal boss after the match.

Both managers were speaking for the first time since the contest ahead of matches this weekend, and Eidevall did not hold back in criticising Hayes for her remarks.

“I thought the comments that I heard after the game were very irresponsible and they were not mirroring the conduct that I had in the technic…

Guardiola ´has the hunger to win again´, says Man City star Rodri

Manchester City star Rodri says Pep Guardiola remains desperate to achieve even more success with the club.

Rodri scored the winner in June as City beat Inter 1-0 to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.

That victory in Istanbul secured a treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, making City only the second team – after the Manchester United side of the 1998-99 season – to achieve that feat.

City have now won five Premier League titles under Guardiola, having been champions for the last three campaigns, while they have won the FA Cup twice and the EFL Cup on four occasions.

Yet the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach remains hungry for more, so says Rodri.

When asked if Guardiola was the GOAT manag…

Huntelaar signs Schalke extension

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has signed a two-year contract extension with the Bundesliga club.

The Netherlands international s deal at the Veltins Arena was due to expire in June, but he has now agreed to extend his stay in Gelsenkirchen until 2017.

Huntelaar has been prolific in front of goal for Schalke since his move from Milan in 2010, proving himself in one of Europe s biggest leagues after struggling in Serie A and La Liga.

Huntelaar helped Schalke to win the DFB-Pokal in 2011 and the former Ajax and Real Madrid man has maintained his strong form in front of goal in 2014-15.

The 31-year-old has netted 10 times in all competitions for Roberto Di Matteo s men this season.

Schalke sat fifth in the Bundesliga prior to Saturday s …

Simeone: I will not leave Atletico

Diego Simeone has committed his future to Atletico Madrid in the wake of more rumours about his departure from the Vicente Calderon.

Under the guidance of Simeone, Atletico have challenged the duopoly of Real Madrid and Barcelona in LaLiga, winning the title in 2013-14, as well as reaching two Champions League finals, where they lost each time to their arch-rivals from the Bernabeu.

Having secured top-three finishes in each of the past four seasons, Atletico are languishing in sixth this time around, already nine points off the pace of Zinedine Zidane s table-toppers.

Simeone is contracted with Atletico until the end of next season, but he has been strongly linked with a return to former club Inter  rumours his son, Genoa striker Giovanni, has fuelled by sayi…

Everton eye Nzonzi deal

Everton are keen to secure a deal for Sevilla midfielder Steven Nzonzi, according to the Mirror.

West Ham United and Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the France international though Toffees boss Sam Allardyce is confident of winning the race for his services, while he is also considering a move for Gunners forward Theo Walcott.

Nzonzi has been plying his trade in La Liga since leaving Stoke City in the summer of 2015 and has so far racked up one hundred and six appearances for Sevilla in all competitions, scoring seven goals.

However, he has started just nine of the side’s sixteen league games so far this season and could be set to leave on loan for the rest of the campaign, with a view to a permanent move in the summer.
